Some Words about Dragon Master

This is my expressionistic portrait of my very good friend, a Dragon Master at heart. He is a successful businessman who collects coins and stamps and has loved dragon lore in science fiction for decades. At times he is still a boy when he plays Diablo on BattleNet, rides roller coasters at amusement parks, plays card games on Yahoo, or even enjoying Mahjong with our mutual friends. He is very supportive of my art career and my oil creations on canvas. When he commissioned me to use him as a subject in my painting, we decided to forget realism and let my imagination go wild. I wanted his image to fly with my imagination, ride the textures of my brush strokes, and glow with the excitement of the colors, just like the wildest ride in his own theme park. It was fun showing his wonderful and playful character unfolds on canvas. Deep in my mind, one facet of his personality, his strength of character and leadership told me he truly is the Master of Dragons.

While many artists strive to paint a realistic image as seen through their own eyes, my art goes dimensions beyond. I try to paint the inner being, the soul, and the essence of the individual from a perspective that most people will never see. I believe I have captured the true kindred spirit of my good friend in this painting. This is the only style of commissioned art work that I will put on canvas.
